This weekend: The blues all around Atlanta

 

This report usually appears on examiner.com, but doe to technical difficulties, it will be appearing here this week and indefinitely.

it’s a busy holiday season weekend as usual, with lots of great shows going on. Darwin’s provides a double dose of strong females with Markey doing lead vocals with Markey Blue on Friday and the amazing Lola, just back from Europe, on Saturday. Randall Bramblett is at Steve’s and loads of other greatness abounds all around.

Some of the people playing this week, like Lola, The Georgia Flood, and Cody Matlock, are in my new book, Southern Crossroads:Georgia Blues which has just been released and is presently available on Amazon and Kindle, with many more locations available soon.

Friday
Randall Brmablett is at Steve’s Live Music, with Hannah Thomas opening. Sandra Hall is at Blind Willie’s and Markey Blue returns to Darwin’s in Marietta. The Blue Devils are at Fat Matt’s and The Electromatics are at Martinis and IMAX at Fernbank Museum. The Rockaholics are at Hottie Hawgs and ani Mac ^ Company are at MoonShadow Tavern in tucker. Mike Veal is at Napoleon’s Grill in Decatur and the Bretheren are at Nik’s Place in Marietta. Cody Matlock brings his band to Northside Tavern. The Georgia Flood is at Tin Kizzy’s in Duluth. The Kerry Hill Band is at Two Urban Licks.

 Saturday

Lola is at Darwin’s and Big Bill Morganfield is at Blind Willie’s. SaNa Blues is at Fat Matt’s and Sole Tarvelers is at East of Austin in Vila Rica. Brandon Reeves is participating in the Shootout at Eddie’s Attic and The arry Richman Band is at MoonShadow Tavern. The Rainmen are at napoleon’s and The Funky Kings are at Nik’s Place in Marietta. Beverly “Guitar” Watkins is iat Northside Tavern with Mudcat  and The Sweet and Salty Blues Band is at Stix in Villa Rica. The Kerry Hill Band continues at Two Urban Licks. Swami Gone bananas is at Avondale  Town Cinemain Avaondale Estates. Stax recording legend WIlliam Bell is at The Earl. Vintage Boogie Band plays at Paddy’s Irish Pub in Kennesaw.

Sunday

The Billy George Duo hosts the blues brunch at Cypress Street Pint & Plate. Snake Legs is at Fat Matt’s and Uncle Sugar is at Northside Tavern.     Chapman and Roper are at Two Urban Licks.
